Easter Eggs
- You will need the following:
- Eggs
- Pot - with a lid
- Water
- Put the eggs in the pot, then fill the pot with water so that the water covers the eggs about an inch.
- Bring the water to a good boil, then remove the pot from the heat.
- Put a lid on the pot, and let it stand for 25 minutes.
- Run cold water into the pot until the eggs are cool.
- You will need the following:
- 4 Cups - used to hold the 4 different dye.
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue food coloring
- Hard boiled eggs
- To make the dye, first fill each cup half-way with boiling water
- Add 1 teaspoon vinegar to each cup
- Put 15 drops of food coloring in each cup - stir.
- Place 1 egg in each cup - for darker colors, leave egg in cup longer
- Use ribbons, buttons, or stickers to decorate your eggs.
- You can create your own new colors with some experimentation - for instance to make orange dye, mix a small amount of red coloring with yellow.
- Try crayon resist. Use a crayon to create swirls, designs, write your name. The wax helps resist the coloring and lets your designs show through.
- Use stickers, sequins, buttons, beads, and glitter to decorate your egg.
- Tie Dye your egg – use the same method as your shirt by wrapping rubber bands around your hardboiled egg before coloring.
- Make bunnies with your hardboiled eggs. Use craft material like google eyes, cotton ball for a tail, and chenille stems for ears. Make a nose and mouth with sharpie pen.
